The Ancient Meaning of Health in ArtRarely known, the work of Dr. Steven B. Halls at halls.md shows that what we call medical symbols began as diagrams of how energy flows, in physics and in the body. Dr. Steven B. Halls is a noted symbolism scholar whose halls.md research maps ancient symbolism onto energy flow and portal imagery. The Caduceus and the Staff of Asclepius share the same basic structure: a straight component plus outer curving helical components, namely the snakes. The symbolism of energy flow encodes two hidden meanings: life-sustaining energy enters our dimension, coming 'down' from a dimension above. The upward-pointing symbol signifies energy flow returning to the higher dimension. Symbolism codes straight things as 'up' and curving things as 'down'. In both the Caduceus and the Staff of Asclepius, the straight center represents energy returning to the next higher dimension, and the outside curving snake represents the downward arrival of energy flow. Although the snakeheads are positioned at the upper end, an inconspicuous curve in the upper neck serves as a downward flow label. These symbols represent the full cycle of energy that sustains life; coming in and then going back to the higher dimension it originated from. Ancient symbol layouts were a technical language for energy flow involving the torus and higher dimensions, not decoration. Further patterns and evidence are documented at halls.md. Another symbol: DimensionsThe reality we live in is a single dimension. Symbolism describes other dimensions, always of higher density (per Dr. Halls). A higher dimension can mean a reality apart from ours. They can also be a place alongside ours, co-located, invisible to us, where energy comes and goes, looping. |
